Spokane County Sheriff's Office

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) needed a tool to move their pre-academy and in-service training to the next level. The WIDS system has assisted the Spokane Sheriff’s Office Training Unit by providing a clear and consistent “left and right” perimeter for the development and implementation of legally defensible lesson plans (syllabi). SCSO Instructional Systems Designer Anthony Anderman says WIDS "has given the instructors additional knowledge by providing their toolbox with the development of behavioral-based competencies,  measurable criteria, performance standards, and objectives.  Moreover, it gives each instructor the opportunity to develop and document their learning plans and performance assessment tests for classroom performance and reality-based training assessment. Each learning plan and performance assessment ties directly back to their competencies."

Anderman says the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Training Unit has scratched the surface of the full capabilities of the WIDS software. "We are looking forward to discovering and utilizing further tools and support WIDS has to offer."

SCSO are currently and will be using the following tools:

  • Course Outcome Summary
  • Syllabus
  • Learning Plans
  • Related Outcomes
  • Project Management
  • Document Folder
  • Performance Assessment Tools
