Southwestern College

California’s Southwestern College hired WIDS to work with faculty on improving their Nursing Program’s AS degree. The goal of the project was to help Southwestern College meet program accreditation requirements and improve NCLEX pass rates.

Project activities included:

1.  Presenting information on the nursing curriculum improvement process:

• Create and manage clinical rubrics based on program outcomes

• Use learning results to drive program improvement

• Address technology issues

2. Holding individual meetings with faculty groups and/or department chairs to collaborate on

• Creating a consensus-based Program Quality Checklist

• Examining gaps identified by the group

• Discussing the relationship between different components on the checklist and how they impact each other

• Creating a plan for the next steps
